Robot Builduing Begins at BH Hall Middle School
Yesterday I started my teaching/mentoring work with 7th graders at Benton Harbor's Middle School. Marry Ann Prince contacted me several months ago about her plans and I was more than happy to help her bring electronics, programming and engineering to more kids.
I don't have the specifics on the robot kits we are using, but they are prefab and use a TI calculator to program them through a serial interface. The kids started the assembly last night with the "TripleD" team making the most progress. For most of the kids this will be their first electronic and or programming experience. Even after two hours of some frustrating construction the kids were still excited and enthused. Not a bad start.
I've mentored for robotics at Lakeshore High School in Stevensville before and my vision of all the area school competing together is progressing. Stay tuned.
